Our Beginnings
Although I have been showing dogs since 1970, Boutyme (Perm) Reg'd. started in 1980 with my old school friend, Susan Friesen and one buff girl with an impeccable pedigree - Poplar Park Dutches C.D. Dutches went back to all the great old lines including Pett's and Bobwin's. Although she never attained her championship as she didn't think much of the show ring, she was a magazine cover girl and produced several champions in only two breedings.
While remaining longtime best friends, due to a move Susan and I went our separate ways with me retaining the kennel name which is now permanently registered with The Canadian Kennel Club.
My cockers are first and foremost great family couch potatoes who have excelled in both the conformation and obedience rings and they have also participated in some of the performance sports. One of them went on to a career in hunting with her new owner who said "she was the best dog I have ever hunted over". As well, they have participated in therapy work visiting cancer patients, seniors, school and youth groups.
The American Cocker Spaniel is a great family dog, they love both old and young and their ideal home is one where they are treated as valued members of the family. This is a breed who loves to be with their family enjoying all family activities be it jogging with you, playing in the park or snuggling up and sharing some popcorn with you when it is movie night! Once you have had a cocker you will be hooked for life as I have been.
